The cork is tight enough that I have to force it in with my fingernail but need a tool to get it out. I will try cutting the cork when I get home from work tonight.
Again thanks for the help and suggestions!!

I would guess one thing, and I see another...

Without seeing the tone channel, hard to say if its too short or not, but is "sounds" like it is.  The lock up from having the reed completely cover the channel.

The other thing, I see some burrs or wood fibers on the tip.  Those will mess with your reed... but wont likely cause the lock up.

A pic from the top might help us get a better idea.

Keep after it - youll get it

I got my computer back so I am finally able to add a pic of the top. I still have not tried to do anything else with the board because I wanted to get this pic up first. I would like to save this one if possible just dont know if I can. Thanks.

Hmmmm not what I was expecting to see.

Okay, Id suggest making the radius out at the end (right around the end of the tone channel) a little steeper.  Take it slow...  if you get the stick out, then take a little more out just a bit fartehr back and see if that brings in some more duck in addition to the no stick fix.

Did you try the half cork thing?  Agree with Wade...not what I expected to see

Reed is way too long. try a shorter reed with much less dog ear. Heck just use a flat ended reed

Will try the cork thing over the wekend. Had to take the day off from work today because my son was sick and didnt get a chance to get out in the shop.
I had a shorter reed in it before I settled on this one and it stuck just as bad and sounded like crap. I have had a few ideas thrown at me to try out and I hope to get to explore on them in the coming days. Thanks to all for their help so far and keep it coming if something else comes to mind.

Try a narrower reed too while you are experimenting.  Here's my guess.  A slightly shorter cork, a shorter reed, and a reed about 1/2" wide will get you close.  I wouldn't sand on the toneboard until you tried these things.

From what Ive seen... if its sticking, it aint the reed - and it likely isnt the cork unless the cork or cork notch is huge and there is a lot of room for adjustment (like Stump said, cut er in half).

Now Im not saying that the cork or the reed arent important tuning factors, but trimming 1/8" off a reed or cork isnt likely going to cure a sticking problem - unless of course there is a huge "defect" in the sound board that makes the cork have a huge reed altering affect - something like a step or saw blade gouge or something where the cork is having a huge affect on the reed - that it shouldnt.

If you get through a few more and still fight the same issue, youre welcome to send one to me to look at... I can even tinker with it if you want and send er back with a little bit about what I did where and you can then see how it affected the call for your calling style.

That is one thing to keep in mind... I dont know your calling style, or how good a caller you are...  There is a chance that maybe somewhere in there - the problem lies?

One thing is for sure, that reed is too long for the tone channel, or the tone channel is too short for the reed.  And the tone channel doesnt look like its too short to me.

Oh oh oh oh ....  just had a thought....  :punk:

You must be using a brat point bit for your tone channels?  It look s awfully squared up at the tip.  Id be inclined to either take a small carving tool, and make a point on that tone channel so that it looks like it would if drilled with a normal 118° drill bit (basically lengthening the tone channel the length of the point).  OR - fill the tip of the channel with JB weld or Epoxy, then reshape the tip to pointed like a drill bit.  Just an idea, but I have seen some soundboards that can handle a square tipped tone channel, and some that cant...
